Scented candles can create a mood in a room, to setting a relaxing tone in a room, create a friendly enviorment, or fill a room with scents that will remind you of happy things, or good food.   Many different creative ideas come from using scented candles.

The use of candles goes back to 3,000 B.C. in those times Egyptians used candles with wicks.  The Romans were recognized with developing candles with wicks before that time.  The purpose in those times was to light their homes, to aid travelers and also used in religious services, and today candles are still utilized in many religious services.

The Western civilization used candles taken from tallow, animal fat.  In the middle ages Europe began using beeswax canldes.   Beeswax candles burned cleanly without a smoky flame.  It also had an aroma that was enjoyable rather than the acid aroma tallow candles would produce.  By the 13th century candle making had turned into a craft in England and France.    Candle maker would travel from home to home to sell their candles or would sell from a small candle shop.

Today  the use of candles has grown to be a large business industry with many different kinds of candles being produced.   Richley scented candles are the most popular and usually the first thing considered in the purchase of candles.   However there are many choices for us today for the use of candles.   Soy candles have become more popular because they burn clean and usually longer than paraffin wax candles.  There are so many ways we can decorate with candle holders, floating candles, and now with the holiday so close we use Holiday candles  to add to our festive decorations.   While the use of candles dates back to many many years ago, today we have expanded our imagination and candles have become a threiving business that creates many hours of pleasure for us.

Water shining with fire light, does seem an unlikely scene.   Well if you use a shallow bowl, put in water and add floating candles you will have the water shinning with just that.   Candles create such a wonderful glow in any room, but add water now we have created a whole new look.  There are so many ways we can  display floating candles.

If you have a pool and you are going to have an evning pool party, what better decorating idea can you use.  There are all shapes and sizes, some already in containers and some that will just float on top of the water. Add some flowers with that and you have created a great large decorative center of attraction for your party.

Now we can move inside, let’s create a soft shimmering glow in the bathroom.   A tub filled with water, candles floating on top, creating not only the shimmer and glow, but filling the room with a special aroma.

Using floating candles you can set a theme for your table, although you would want to use unscented candles in a center piece so as not to interfere with the rich food aromas.   Continue with your theme in other rooms, decorating with tea lights in floating holders, put in crystal containers will add an even more shimmering touch.

Floating candles, like any other decorative candles, come in many sizes, shapes, and colors and fragrances.   You can use them for a formal room appearance or just create a fun theme with ones shaped like animals, flowers, butterflies, or many more different types of themes.   Used with care and cautions, candles can add so much to our decorating ideas.

Clean Burning Soy Candles October 31, 2007

Soy candles are made from natural wax mediums.   These soy candles are found to burn clean, and do not have any black soot or smoke.  Candles are used today in celebrations, to create a romantic  mood,  add to a ceramony, as well as adding to a homes decor and a pleasing aroma to any room.

Many candle makers prefer to use 100% soy wax, while others will combine the soy wax with mixes of beeswax, or cottonseed oil.   Scents are added now to soy candles.    Because aromas are an important consideration in a candle purchase,  aromas have now been added to them.     The time the candles burn is also another factor that is considered.  Soy candles burn longer than  paraffin wax candles.  Many exciting and different changes are being made to the candle making process today.  It is a $ 2 billion dollar industry and will continue to grow.

When we think of the this time of hear and the Holidays, we think of many things.  Decorating being one of the most fun things to do.  Any time I think of decorating I always think of what candles I can get to add to that decor.   Shopping for Holiday candles is one of my favorite things to do.  There are some very special aromas that only are avaiable at the Holdiay season.   When you live in Florida, and previously come from up North, it’s nice to be able to create an aroma when you walk into a room at Christmas that will bring all the thoughts of those cold, snowy nights and the smell of Christmas trees, but not have to actually experience that cold and snow.    There are also many beautiful Holdiay candles in gift packages that help make our gift shopping easier.    We all have such busy schedules and seem to never have time to do all the things we need to do.   Shopping on line has become the only way to shop for many of us.   While candles are a lovely gift to give any time, for most occassions,  the Holiday candles gift sets will not  only  be a gift most people will enjoy receiving, it  is a way for us to give a special gift for that someone special without the stress of what to buy and getting the shopping done on time.   Consider when making your gift giving shopping list Candle gift sets that may not have just the holdiay theme.  There are so many sets that have great aromas for setting many different types of atmospheres, relaxing, romantic, candle holders to add to the decor.   The choice of candle giving  as gifts is a really thoughtful gift which most people will enjoy receiving.

Richly Scented Candles October 26, 2007

Many years ago candles primary use was for a souce of light only.   Today you will find candles in almost every home, being used for different purposes.

I love to decorate my home and each room has its own special atmosphere.  Let’s think about decorative candles.   Using  decorative candles is such a great way to add to the room.    I always burn scented candles, and different scents will create a different feeling for the room.    In my bedroom I enjoy a lavender scent.   It  is relaxing  and adds to the stress release that I want  when I lay in bed with a good book and smell that relaxing aroma.

In my kitchen the decorative candles would be more of a rich aroma, while adding to the decor.   Today there are so many fun shapes, sizes and fragrances.   In the kitchen you can use decorate candles that look like a pie, or fruit.   The decortive candle holders come in all sizes and shapes and sytles for any decor.   You can choose from pumpkin spice, to apple spice or any other fragrance that will remind you of the special aromas coming from the kitchen.

My family room is always one of my favorite places to display my decorative candles.  Not only do I have jar candles, but I have holders for tea light candles and voitive candles.   All the candle holders are different sizes and shapes, but each add something to the room and is so pleasing to see as you walk in.

Soy candles are one of my favorites because they burn so clean.  While I love all types of candles, I have found the soy candles to burn longer and cleaner.   Now many of the soy candles come in different scents as well.  So anyone that would prefer to not have the residue from burning candles should think about purchasing the scented soy candles.   I can not think about decorating in any fashion without having candles to help me achieve the special effects and warm glows.
